Man Wanted In Connection With Wife's Fatal Shooting Found Dead

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The estranged husband of a woman shot and killed in Washington County was found dead in his car Wednesday morning.

According to police, the shooting happened around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday along Locust Street in Allenport. Neighbors called police after hearing gunshots and finding the victim lying in the street.

"I was so worried about her. He's been stalking her for so long," Alexis Wadsworth said.

KDKA's Amy Wadas Reports:

Wadsworth said her worst fears came true when her mother, 51-year-old Jeanne Bennati, was found dead outside her home.

"Not only did he break her heart, but he took her life," Wadsworth said.

Wadsworth said her mom and estranged husband, Ryan Foster, had been separated for a few months.

Wadsworth said her mom recently filed for divorce after Foster had been seeing Bennati's best friend of 15 years behind her back.

Wadsworth said Foster wouldn't leave her mother alone, even though she had moved on and had a new boyfriend.

"I don't know if she ever did have a restraining order against him because she always saw the good in people and thought he would change and leave her alone," she said.

State Police said Bennati was found shot in the head in her neighborhood. The coroner pronounced her dead about an hour later.

"Emotions run high especially in cases of divorce. Violence is never the answer," Tpr. Stefanie Plume said.

KDKA's Harold Hayes Reports:

Around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, State Police found Foster in dead in his car near a ball field off of Frick Street in Dunlevy Borough.

He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Police tracked his Corvette using a description of his car and license plate information.
