Aliquippa Mayor: Investigation Ongoing After Firing Of 3 Police Officers

ALIQUIPPA (KDKA) -- Once a booming steel town, the city of Aliquippa is now down to a population of just over 9,000 people; and as of Wednesday night, the city is also down three police officers.

Since Mayor Dwan Walker appointed the Aliquippa Police chief and also the council president, KDKA's Brenda Waters went to him for answers about what was behind the terminations of officers Paul Cain, Angelo Lewis and Eric McPhilomy.

They were all long-time patrolmen.

The mayor said he could not go into detail about the matter, but did say he did what he had to do based on information provided by police Chief Donald Couch.

He also said this is an ongoing investigation.

We also reached out to all three officers, but only contacted McPhilomy. A woman answered the phone and said he had no comment.

A call to the Beaver County District Attorney was unanswered.

The Aliquippa Police Department now has 15 full-time officers.

The mayor says he will fill the three empty positions as soon as possible.
