Boy, 6, Sprayed With Glass After Shots Fired Into Butler Apartment

BUTLER (KDKA) – Police are investigating after shots were fired and a child was sprayed by shattered glass in Butler County.

According to police, the incident happened around 10:30 p.m. in the 400-block of West New Castle Street in Butler Sunday.

"I was in bed, I woke up to a loud bang, glass all through my living room, and smoke," Colleen Biondo says.

When officers arrived, they determined that someone fired a shotgun round through a window of an apartment building.

A 6-year-old boy was asleep on a couch inside and was sprayed with glass. Fortunately, the child was not injured.

"It was my son that was laying on the loveseat and got glass all over him," Biondo says.

Biondo says the boy spent the night at friends house and went to school today.

Police did interview a couple people about the shooting, but so far no arrest has been made.

Biondo thinks the shooting may have been retaliation, "We had an incident where some older gentleman had beat up my 14 year old on Saturday. And I think this was a retaliation for him being arrested and then he was let go."

No arrests have been made at this time.
