Hit And Run Suspect Flees In Mt. Lebanon

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The search is underway for a hit and run driver in Mt. Lebanon.

Police say a 28-year-old woman was hit by a red SUV and thrown 60-feet at the corner of Washington and Cedar Boulevard.

She is suffering from serious injuries, including two broken legs, and a concussion.

Police say the driver did initially stop, but when a small crowd gathered he fled.

The woman was with a group of friends when she was hit, she was alone in the street, and crossing against the green light.

Witnesses say the man stopped, and next thing they noticed he had left.

"The fact that he did leave the scene when there was an injury is pretty serious. You're obligated to stick around and make sure the proper authorities are notified for the victim," Mt. Lebanon Deputy Chief Aaron Lauth said.

Witnesses say the suspect was driving a dark model Jeep.

He is described as being a darker skinned white mane, with dark brown or black hair, and about 5-feet-8 with a medium build.

Police say it's likely the man has damage to the passenger side of that Jeep.
