Poll Shows Slight Tightening Of Pa. Gov Race

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - A new poll shows Pennsylvania's gubernatorial race tightening slightly as Republican Gov. Tom Corbett picks up support among likely voters, but Democrat Tom Wolf still leads by 17 percentage points.

Quinnipiac University pollsters said Tuesday that Wolf is backed by 55 percent of voters judged likely to cast ballots and Corbett by 38 percent. That compares to a September survey showing likely voters supporting Wolf over Corbett by a 24-point margin.

Quinnipiac spokesman Tim Malloy attributes the shift to Republicans trickling to the Corbett camp in the closing weeks of the campaign, but says time is not on Corbett's side.

Nov. 4 is Election Day.

The telephone poll of 907 likely voters was conducted from Sept. 30 through Sunday. The sampling error margin is plus or minus 3.3 percentage points.
