Police Investigate 4th City Homicide In Past 3 Days

GLEN HAZEL (KDKA)- Police are looking for the two men who opened fire in Glen Hazel Monday morning. The shooting left one man dead and another injured.

According to police. the shooting happened around 11 a.m. on Roselle Drive.

Witnesses say two men jumped out of a car and chased the two victims. One of the victims was shot while he was trying to run away and collapsed. The gunmen stood over him and shot him again.

That victim died at the scene. He has been identified as 22-year-old Marcus Critten.

"The young man that got gunned down was in the community signing people up for a workforce development training program," said Michael Wilson. "He was a very respectful young man, very polite. He was trying to make a difference."

The second man who was shot ran to a nearby house for help. He was last listed in critical condition at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.

Neighbors say dozens of shots were fired, but no arrests have been made.

Earlier Monday, a city sanitation worker was shot and killed in Carrick. Over the weekend, a man was shot and killed in Beltzhoover and another was shot and killed in Homewood.

Neighbors say they want to come forward, but they are afraid to do so.

"Police come to our neighborhood, get the information they need to get and they don't protect the people giving the information," said Saundra McKemey. "So, they are open season. So, they're afraid, not like they don't want to come forward."

Pittsburgh Councilman Corey O'Connor was at the scene of the latest murder in Glen Hazel.

"This is our time to fight back," said O'Connor. "I think the neighbors in this area have seen enough of this over the years. They see Hazelwood is on the move, and we need to fight ourselves and tell these people we don't want this in our neighborhood."

There will be a public safety meeting held tonight for residents in Hazelwood at the Propel School at 6:30 p.m.

Another meeting will be held in Glen Hazel for residents directly impacted by the violence. It will be held at the senior high rise at 5 p.m.
