More Changes Coming To Steelers Defense
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau on Thursday stopped just short of naming Brice McCain a starter at cornerback Monday when the Steelers host the Houston Texans.
When asked if he's looking to get McCain more snaps this week, LeBeau said, "You've been out to practice, haven't you? I think the answer to that is yes."
McCain will likely replace the struggling Cortez Allen. LeBeau believes Allen would benefit from watching instead of playing for at least a week.
LeBeau also spoke highly of rookie defensive linemen Stephon Tuitt and Daniel McCullers, who will both play on Monday.
"I think anyone that has the raw material that these guys have, they are going to be able to contribute and they have to start right now," LeBeau said after practice.
Of Tuitt, LeBeau added, "He's going to be a good player. You can write that down."
McCullers, who has yet to suit up for a game, is eager for the chance.
"They've got faith in me. I'm ready to go," he told 93.7 The Fan's Eric Hagman.
Defensive end Brett Keisel did not practice because of his knee injury, while nose tackle Steve McLendon is ruled out with a shoulder injury.
