Man Charged With Watching Girl, 14, In Shower

HARMONY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - A man from Beaver County has been arrested, accused of watching a 14-year-old girl while she showered in her home.

Jason Hrinko, 38, of Harmony Township, has been a volunteer coach for a municipal program called F.A.S.T, which stands for Freedom Area Soccer Teams, for the past few years.

Hrinko was charged with invasion of privacy on Monday because of an alleged incident that happened on Sept. 27.

KDKA's Amy Wadas spoke to the victim's mother over the phone.

She says Hrinko was a family friend. He was at her house babysitting her 14-year-old daughter and other children when Hrinko used his iPhone to view the teen while she was taking a shower.

The victim's mom claims Hrinko set it all up that night by saying to her daughter "I don't want to sound like your mother, but get a shower, I have to do towels."

According to the criminal complaint, when she got out of the shower, the victim claims she saw a cell phone and fingers holding the phone up to the open window. Police say the victim screamed and immediately called her mother.

Police and the teen's mom rushed to the house and confronted Hrinko about the incident. Police say Hrinko denied what happened.

Police searched the phone and didn't find any photos or videos. Then, police asked him to go home.

After several attempts to question him over the next week or so, police say Hrinko finally admitted to using the cell phone to view the girl, but claims he didn't see anything.

Known as a quiet guy on the street, neighbors say they would have never suspected this.

"He seemed real friendly, real nice guy. Always taking care of his yard and that, working on his house. Good neighbor," neighbor Mike Willard said.

The victim's mom says her daughter is still very upset about that night, and is scared to shower and sleep alone. Her mom says she's concerned Hrinko could have done this before, but just got caught this time around.

Hrinko has been charged with invasion of privacy. He has no prior record other than some driving offenses.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for next month Nov. 14.
