Uniontown Police Seek Suspects In Pizza Shop Robberies

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) -- Police in Uniontown are looking for two robbers who held up two pizza places.

The robberies happened within days of each other.

It's been a busy last few weeks for the Uniontown Police Department.

"Last two to two and a half weeks, counting Tuesday, that makes our fourth armed robbery," said Lt. Tom Kolencik, of Uniontown Police.

The last few hold ups have happened at pizza shops on Fayette Street. Michael Maria's saw two gunman leave with cash and a bang.

"Demanded money from the cash register, got the money," said Lt. Kolencik. "This one here was a little more detailed as they were leaving the store they actually fired a round at the employee."

No one was hit by the bullet.

A couple days later, on Tuesday, the same suspects are accused of holding up a nearby Fox's Pizza Den. They got away with nothing, but managed to give police something they desperately needed because the whole thing was caught on video.

"In this one, they didn't get any money," Lt. Kolencik said.

It appears the robbery went south when one of the assailants realized he was being videotaped and bailed. The other one couldn't get the register open.

"The employee said,' I don't know how to open the cash register,' and actually picked up the phone right in front of the actor with the handgun and dialed 911," said Lt. Kolencik.

That was enough for the second suspect. He fled as well.

With their last robbery attempt an absolute failure, police said these guys could be desperate. They are hoping someone will recognize them from the surveillance video.

If you have any information on the case or suspects, you are urged to call Uniontown Police.
