Suspects Sought In Fatal West End Shooting

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are investigating a fatal shooting Friday morning in the West End.

A man was shot in the parking lot of the Lee Tuck lounge.

And witnesses say they saw two suspects running from the scene.

The shooting happened around 1:50 a.m. on Steuben Street.

The Allegheny County medical examiner identifies the victim as 25-year-old Ronnell Smith of McKees Rocks.

Police say Smith was shot through the driver's side window of his SUV, after leaving the bar.

The shooting happened in the parking lot of the bar and people were still around when it happened.

"It was over here at the bar, and I believe it was closing time, right around when this happened," said police spokesperson Sonya Toler. "I believe the bar was shutting down, people were on their way home."

KDKA's Amy Wadas spoke to a bartender inside the lounge Friday morning. She says she wasn't working when the shooting happened and that she hasn't seen violence like this in the 30 some years she's worked there. Police say the bar is not known to be a common place for violence.

Regardless, police still have their work cut out for them.

"We're interviewing people and the investigation is trying to determine where we go from here," Toler said.

Police say the suspects were last seen taking off on foot Sanctus Street and police are asking for your help.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident is encouraged to call police. Callers may remain anonymous.
