Police Investigating After Woman Shot, Killed In Mars Home

MARS (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a woman was found dead in her Mars home Wednesday night.

According to officials at the scene, the body was initially found in a home on Tenacity Trail around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Thursday morning, crime scene tape surrounded the home where state police said a 42-year-old woman was found dead. Her 5-month-old baby was unharmed inside.

KDKA's Lynne Hayes-Freeland Reports:

"It appears she's succumbed to a bullet wound. So, we're now, processing the scene. An autopsy will be performed later and we are following up on leads right now," Lt. Thomas Dubovi said.

State Police now identify the woman as Tara Sherri Bouie.

Adams Township Police initially responded to the scene when family members contacted them around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said family members checked on the woman when they couldn't get in contact with her. It appears the woman and her baby were the only two living in the home.

"We're talking to people that last saw her, her associates, so forth have some information and need to follow up on," Lt. Dubovi said.

Police said the woman has a boyfriend, but he didn't live with her.

Neighbors said the woman has lived in the home for just a few months. They said she rented the home and there was some sort of SWAT situation at the home in September.

State police acknowledged that there was some sort of incident in September, but they didn't handle it and neither did Adams Township Police.\

But KDKA has learned law enforcement was at the same home last month to arrest Kenneth Harrison.

Harrison was charged in the murder of Tyrone Tomman outside Art's Tavern in the Strip District in August.

Police say Harrison was one of two people who fired several shots at five people as they left the tavern.

It's believed the shooting stemmed from an argument over loud motorcycles.

State Police in Butler have now contacted Pittsburgh Police's Homicide Squad for help in their investigation of Bouie's murder.

KDKA's Amy Wadas Reports:

"This is a quiet neighborhood, a rural but affluent neighborhood. Most people around here work and have jobs. We don't see large amounts of drug activity or anything like that. So, this is unusual," Lt. Dubovi said.

State police said they are following up on some leads, but don't have anyone in custody just yet.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact State Police in Butler at 724-284-8100.
