Man Charged With Animal Cruelty, Accused Of Fatally Shooting 2 Dogs

BRIGHTON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Police in Beaver County have charged a man accused of shooting two dogs in the head and leaving them to die in Brady's Run Park.

Steven Cable Jr. is facing charges of animal cruelty and reckless endangerment.

Brighton Township Police say some public works employees found the bodies of the two older Labrador Retrievers, one black and the other yellow, near a park shelter on Nov. 3. Each dog was still wearing a collar when they were found.

According to the criminal complaint, the owner of the two dogs told investigators he had paid Cable $100 last month to humanely put the dogs down.

The owner, the criminal complaint reports, told police that Cable offered to take the dogs "out to his farm" and said he would "give the dogs tranquilizers to put them to sleep and would bury then with his tractor."

Cable allegedly also told the owner that he had humanely euthanized animals before, the criminal complaint reports.

Police say x-rays showed the dogs had been shot with .22 caliber bullets.
