Crews Battle Flames & Cold At Edgewood Fire
EDGEWOOD (KDKA)- Firefighters had their hands full with a three-alarm fire in Edgewood, and they had to deal with freezing temperatures too.
The fire started around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at a home on Pennwood Avenue.
Crews found heavy fire coming from the second floor and attic when they arrived. The home was unoccupied and no one was inside at the time of the fire.
The three-alarm fire burned a hole in part of the roof. It took about 35 minutes to get the fire under control.
Crews called in extra responders to the scene to help with battling the cold weather.
The Salvation Army had a rehab truck on scene to offer hot drinks and warm blankets. Firefighters also had to call for some salt, as the water from their hoses led to some frozen streets.
Nobody was hurt in the fire. The cause is under investigation by the Allegheny County fire marshal.
