Intense Flames Rip Through West End Home

DUQUESNE HEIGHTS (KDKA) - The arson squad is investigating the cause of an early morning fire in Duquesne Heights.

According to officials, flames broke out right around 2 a.m. Monday at a home in the 300-block of Republic Street,

No one was inside when the fire started and the home is currently listed for sale.

In the online listing, it promised new appliances, so neighbors were perplexed when they saw the homeowners removing them from the home Sunday.

"Hours before the fire, they came and pulled their appliances and then next thing you know, the house is on fire," Pat Walton, a neighbor, said.

Walton lives inches from the home that caught on fire.

He was concerned that his whole home would burn and was pleased with the efforts of the Pittsburgh Firefighters who saved his house.

He has water damage and lost half of his roof due to the flames rolling onto it, but considers himself lucky.

No injuries were reported.
