Take The Strong Vet Pledge & Help Local Veterans

Western Pennsylvania is home to thousands of veterans and a new collaboration is creating a support network for them.

According to a press release, Operation StrongVet is, "a regional collaboration of five diversified nonprofit agencies designed to more rapidly support the physical, emotional, legal, residential, educational and training needs of veterans."

Those five agencies are:

• Checkpoint
• City Mission
• Neighborhood Legal Services
• Pittsburgh Mercy Health System
• ELeVATE

Organizers are hoping to make western Pennsylvania the most vet-friendly region of the country.

The campaign kicked off on Wednesday at Heinz Field with Bruno Sammartino and Rocky Bleier challenging local businesses and community organizations to take the pledge.
