Dozen Parked Cars Hit By Truck In Mt. Washington
MT. WASHINGTON (KDKA)- People in one section of Mt. Washington woke up to broken glass, dented fenders and a long line of damaged cars.
Police say a pick-up truck bounced off cars on Kearsage Street and Belonda Street around 2:30 a.m. Monday.
Police say at least nine vehicles were hit along the street. The damage ranged from scratches to big dents to mirrors ripped off to even some cars being totaled.
Neighbors say the sounds of the crashes woke them up.
"You could hear it progressively getting closer and closer," said Randy Stoernell. "My roommate said I think a truck just went by hitting a bunch of cars. We got out there and both doors were open on the truck and nobody was in it."
Stoernell's car had some damage from the out-of-control truck.
Police confirmed initial reports that a driver and passenger were possibly in the truck, a silver Dodge Ram, which also had extensive damage.
Officers discovered a 38-year-old man passed out on the ground on Kearsage Street. Officials say he may have been in the truck.
He had minor injuries and was taken to Allegheny General Hospital where he was last listed in stable condition.
Despite the wreckage along Kearsage, Becka Wright, whose car may be totaled, says the police were quick to respond and help.
"They were amazing, so many officers came. They were really polite. They were really thoughtful. They took time to talk to us and explain what was going on," said Wright.
The investigation continues.
