Ed Bouchette: Bell Equipped To Shoulder Heavy Workload
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – 93-7 The Fan Steelers insider and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporter Ed Bouchette joined "The Fan Morning Show" Monday to look back at the Steelers' big win over the Bengals.
Bouchette said he sees a reason to believe that Le'Veon Bell can safely shoulder the heavy workload he has been given.
"Jerome Bettis carried a lot," Bouchette saud. "When I talked to him about that kind of thing - believe me, he was sore on Mondays - he talked about getting skinny and getting through the holes and not taking on big direct hits. And I think Le'Veon Bell does that a little bit. You don't see the big, direct hits on him that you might see on other running backs."
Bouchette explained that Bell's predecessors were able to sustain a heavy workload for a good long while.
"Le'Veon Bell's 23-years-old," Bouchette said. "He's a big, strapping kid. Now, Jerome was bigger, but he carried the ball a lot. Willie Parker carried the ball a lot and they endured for a while. So, I really think that he can do that.He doesn't seem to have any injuries. I see no reason to work somebody else in just to work somebody else in. I really don't."
Bouchette joins "The Fan Morning Show" every morning after a Steelers game, usually Mondays at 8 a.m.
