Police Searching For Missing South Side Man

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Police are asking for help from the public in trying to track down a missing man who lives in the South Side.

Family members of 22 year old Paul Kochu say he was last seen or heard from around 1:30 Wednesday morning at his home on the South Side.

Paul's father Jack says his son went to Smoking Joe's bar on East Carson Street to watch the Monday Night Football game with this roommates. He left around midnight, while his roommates stayed behind.

Paul cut his hand on some glass, and his roommates came home to help. After that, the roommates left to get something to eat. When they returned early Tuesday morning, Paul was nowhere to be found.

He hasn't been heard from or seen since Tuesday morning.

Kochu is a graduate of Duquesne University and works as an intensive care unit nurse at Allegheny General Hospital.

"He absolutely cherished his position at AGH," said Paul's father Jack Kochu. "So there was no reason he would have wanted to leave town or anything like that."

In fact, his dad said he was excited about Christmas at home. "He told us he was very happy to be coming home, very excited the tree was up and decorated and he couldn't wait to get home."

Kochu's sister Jessica thought for sure he would show up at work Thursday morning. "We were all praying that he would please show up at his job, when he didn't, we knew this had gone from serious to extremely serious."

Kochu is described as being six-feet tall, 180 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on Kochu's whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the Pittsburgh Police Missing Person's Unit at 412-323-7141.
