Police Searching For Girl, 2, Kidnapped In Wilkinsburg

WILKINSBURG (KDKA)- Allegheny County Police are trying to track down a Wilkinsburg man they say kidnapped his 2-year-old daughter.

Tuesday afternoon, Jaleeyah Ortiz was taken from a home on Hunter Street.

Police say 32-year-old Tex Ortiz kidnapped the girl.

They say he does not have a car, but he has recently been known to get rides from an African-American woman known as Kya. She was driving a black Ford Focus.

Police say Lori Clark is the child's legal guardian. Clark told KDKA that the 2-year-old lived with her and her mother, until the little girl's mother passed away five months ago.

That's when Ortiz was given custody until recently.

After paperwork was finalized, Clark went to get the little girl only to find the two gone.

Police say Ortiz has been known to use MegaBus or Amtrak trains to travel to New York City, where some relatives live.

Ortiz has been charged with kidnapping, concealing the whereabouts of a child and interfering with child custody.

He is an Hispanic man with brown hair and brown eyes. Ortiz is 5-feet-9-inches tall and weighs around 200 pounds.

If you've seen either Tex Ortiz or Jaleeyah Ortiz call Allegheny County Police right away.
