Cam Heyward Expects Bengals To Stick With Ground Game

PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- Steelers defensive end Cam Heyward joined The Fan Morning Show on Friday before the season finale against Cincinnati. While there might be a few similarities, Heyward said that the team can't just look at the film from their win at Cincinnati Dec. 7.

"You've got to look at that Denver game and see they ran the ball with success. I think that they're definitely going to try to run the ball more, mix it up with a lot more screens, and try to have more success at keeping Andy Dalton clean. Even if we didn't get the sacks, we were still getting hits on him," Heyward said.

Heyward was asked about the Steelers return to the playoffs for the first time since the 2011 season.

"We've got a great opportunity right now. We understand this doesn't come lightly. We've missed the playoffs twice, and we're just knocking on the door. We want to make some noise this year," Heyward said.

Heyward has been impressed by the growth of rookie defensive end Stephon Tuitt.

"I'm just seeing a growth in Stephon. You know, it's just about taking that next level. I don't want him to be satisfied because he can be a heck of a player in this league, but he's got to prove it day in and day out," Heyward said.

Head coach Mike Tomlin gave the players off on Christmas Day, but Heyward said that his wife was happier about that than he was.

"I was really starting to get into a routine, so when I heard we were getting Christmas off, I was a little bit bummed because it just messes up everything for us. Whether it's extra treatment after your workout routine, your workout schedule, you're just trying to get everything out of the way before Thursday hits," Heyward said.
