Ben Roethlisberger To Skip Pro Bowl

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - According to the New Orleans Saints website, Ben Roethlisberger has opted out of the Pro Bowl and will be replaced by Saints' quarterback Drew Brees.

Players are now only permitted to miss the Pro Bowl for injury reasons or if they are playing in the Super Bowl.  Given that the Steelers were knocked out last week, that means Roethlisberger is nursing some sort of injury.

Head coach Mike Tomlin said in his exit press conference that Roethlisberger could have a minor procedure to clean up his knee.

Roethlisberger finished the year with a 103.3 quarterback rating throwing for 4,952 yards and 32 touchdowns.

Roethlisberger was one of six quarterbacks voted into the Pro Bowl along with Tom Brady, Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers and Tony Romo.

Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers was the leading vote getter amongst all quarterbacks.
