Police: Woman Shot Outside Of Fayette Co. Home Actually Shot Self

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police say a woman who reported being shot by a man while leaving her North Union Township home Thursday actually shot herself.

Thursday morning, police were called to a home on Greenpoint Circle in North Union Township after a woman was wounded in the shoulder.

Shaquasia Sims, 22, told police she was shot by someone as she was leaving her house.

Police even said they were looking for a suspect described as an African American male, 6-feet-7-inches tall, 250 pounds. He was wearing a tan hat, tan shirt and jeans – and possibly went by the name "whiskey."

However, Friday police say there is not suspect and that they are not looking for any persons of interest.

Police said their investigation showed that Sims somehow shot herself. Laurel Highlands High School and R.W. Clark Elementary School were put on lockdown after the shooting.
