Police: Dance Instructor Arrested After Sexting Middle School Student

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A visiting dance instructor at the Propel Middle School in Braddock hills has been fired and arrested.

He's accused of sexting a 13-year-old girl.

The school says it handled the situation as soon as it found out.

Parents were caught off guard when news spread of a sexting incident.

"I've no idea what to say about it, it's a little shocking, disconcerting," said Alison Grana of Forest Hills.

Jameson Corrie, 22, is charged with corruption of minors, criminal solicitation and unlawful contact with a child.

The dance instructor is accused of sending suggestive text messages to a 13-year-old. He allegedly told the girl not to tell anyone about it.

In a statement from Propel, they say it happened "after school hours and off of Propel property."

They immediately notified Pittsburgh Musical Theater, where Corrie worked, and local law enforcement. Corrie has not returned to Propel and has been fired by the Pittsburgh Musical Theater.

But parents are still concerned.

"Very disturbing, very disturbing," said parent Darren Stevons. "But my daughter, I asked her, she said she had no knowledge of the teacher at all."

"The most important thing," said Lourdes Tavares of Wilkinsburg, "is that we need to be sure that the kids are safe."
