Teen Shoots, Kills Girlfriend's Father After Domestic Dispute

WASHINGTON (KDKA) - A teenager is in custody in connection with an early Friday morning fatal shooting in Washington County.

According to police, the shooting happened in the 400-block of Addison Street in Washington around 3:50 a.m.

KDKA's Harold Hayes Reports:

The coroner was called to the scene around 4 a.m. after the body of the victim was found in the courtyard of a home.

Jerred Price, 42, was shot and killed while picking up his ex-wife's 16-year-old daughter. She lived at the duplex with her 18-year-old boyfriend, Jerald Thompson, and their 7-month-old son.

Thompson is accused of shooting Price out of the second-floor window while the two exchanged words.

"Mr. Thompson shot Mr. Price from inside the house. Mr. Price was out on the lawn and [Thompson] fired in his direction and hit him at least once, possibly twice," Washington Police Lt. Dan Stanek said.

"I just hope justice is done. I mean, this is senseless. He needs to pay for what he did," Eadrik Davenport said.

Police said Thompson and the 16-year-old had a disagreement earlier in the night. At that time, she called her mother and asked to be picked up. Her mother brought Price, her ex-husband, with her.

Police did not go into details about the disagreement or the argument between Price and Thompson.

KDKA's Heather Abraham Reports:

Price's family discounts any theory of self-defense.

"I mean he was leaving the presence of the house," says Davenport. "I mean there was no immediate danger that he was in, and you know, he shot him twice. Not once, but twice walking away."

The child was not harmed in the incident.

Thompson is charged with criminal homicide and is being held without bond.
