Police Arrest Driver Accused In Armstrong Co. Fatal Hit & Run Crash

KISKI TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- The man who state police say ran from the scene of a fatal hit and run accident Friday afternoon in Armstrong County has been taken into custody.

The crash happened around 2 p.m. at Sugar Hollow Road and North 2nd Street in Kiski Township.

Authorities identify the suspect as 34-year-old Jeremy Blystone of Leechburg.

Police say he ran away from the scene on foot, heading through some yards, and then was seen on North 2nd Street Extension going towards North Apollo before disappearing.

After an intensive three-hour search that included helicopters and search dogs, state police found him and took him into custody in Apollo.

He may have been injured.

The accident victim was reportedly flown from the scene. He died at Forbes Hospital. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office has identified him as 61-year-old Thomas Pater of Armstrong County.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Saturday.

The vehicles hit head-on.
