Mt. Oliver Man Arrested For Allegedly Beating, Threatening Wife

MOUNT OLIVER (KDKA) -- A 28-year-old Mount Oliver man was arrested after police say he beat up his wife and threatened her.

Devi Bhandari, an immigrant from Nepal, faces charges of aggravated assault, making terroristic threats and harassment.

Mount Oliver Police say they saw Bhandari grabbing his wife by the arm outside their Hays Avenue apartment.

Police went to help her after they saw her face bleeding, and they said, despite the frigid weather, she was outdoors wearing only a t-shirt and pants.

The woman told police that Bhandari allegedly punched her in the face, threw her to the ground and began punching and kicking her.

Authorities say she complained to officers that her husband constantly beats her and warns her if she calls police, he would kill her.

But, despite the physical abuse, the woman, who is also from Nepal, said she has no family in this country and has nowhere to go with her two children. She said she fears for her and her children's safety when Bhanderi returns home.
