2 Students Disciplined After 'Hit List' Found At Washington Co. School

FREDERICKTOWN (KDKA) – State Police have been notified after an alleged hit list was found at a Washington County middle school earlier this month.

Sources tell KDKA two female students at Bethlehem Center Middle School put the names of certain male classmates on the so-called hit list.

When the principal discovered the list, she took immediate action against the students.

"What she did was, she confiscated the list, took the two students involved into her office and proceeded to follow the disciplinary code at the school, called our school police, the two students were removed from school," said Beth-Center Solicitor James Davis.

No details are being released on the nature of the threats.

Parents of the students on the list were notified, but Davis says he doesn't think the teens actually want to hurt anyone.

"What we're talking about is a list, and the word 'hit,' I believe was interpreted by the administration to mean strike, like 'I'm mad at somebody, I'm going to slap them,'" Davis said.

Letters were sent home telling parents about the list and assuring them Bethlehem Center Schools are safe.

The students remain suspended and some parents are questioning whether they should be allowed to return. Meanwhile, the district says the so-called hit list won't be tolerated.

"Whether they were making a prank or they were being serious, school officials have to take it seriously," Davis said.
