Several Condos Badly Damaged In Upper St. Clair Fire

UPPER ST. CLAIR (KDKA) – A condo fire sent people scrambling in Upper St. Clair Thursday.

At one point, firefighters had to attack it from above.

The fire broke out Thursday afternoon, catching people off guard. There was a rush to get out.

"I was out smoking, I heard pops and I opened the garage door, I seen smoke and the neighbors are yelling 'call 911, call 911,'" said Janet Parker.

Everyone did get out safely, but several cats in one condo didn't make it.

"That's all, I ran outside, tried to run back in and get my cats and I couldn't, I couldn't get 'em," said cat owner Kevin Barnard.

In the meantime, all people could do was watch as firefighters tried the save the condos.

It's unclear what caused the fire.

At least one condo was destroyed and about another half-dozen were badly damaged.
