Kyle Stark: Pirates Have Good Mix Of Prospects

PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- Pirates assistant general manager Kyle Stark joined Dan Zangrilli on Bucco Talk Saturday in Bradenton. Stark told Zangrilli that the club has a good balance of prospects between the different levels.

"I think we actually have a pretty good mix," Stark said. "As you look at our top guys that are on the top 100 of different external publications, it's a pretty good mix, triple A guys down to low A guys," Stark said.

Zangrilli asked about the organization's plan for middle infield prospect Alen Hanson.

"Our game plan for his is to get him indoctrinated into (Class) AAA, primarily at second base, keep him there," Stark said. "We feel like he's got the tools to play shortstop, but right now we just want to try to free him up a little bit."

Stark says that pitching prospect Nick Kingham provides the Pirates legit depth in the starting rotation.

"There's some things that Nick needs to continue to grow on and improve, but overall, we feel like Nick is close. We feel like Nick is going to be ready to help us at some point this year," Stark said.
