Police: Vandals Break Windows On 29 Vehicles In 2 Neighborhoods

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Two people were injured in a crash while fleeing from police early Monday morning.

Over the weekend, a total of 29 cars had their windows smashed in the neighborhoods of Spring Garden and Brighton Heights.

Several streets, including East, Wabana, and Hiawatha; Termon and Benton avenues; and Brighton Road were targeted.

However, nothing appears to have been taken from the vehicles.

Around 12:44 a.m. Monday, an officer on patrol noticed a white Honda matching a description of one seen in the area of the Woodland Avenue incidents.

As the officer was turning around, the vehicle sped away and crashed into a wooden pole near the intersection of Woodland and Pitler.

A female passenger left the car and was found quickly. The male driver was found in a nearby backyard.

The 33-year-old driver had suffered some facial injuries in the crash and could not stand.

Both were taken to Allegheny General Hospital. The driver was last listed in critical, but stable condition while the female was last listed in stable condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call Zone 1 Police at (412)-323-7201.
