Pitt RB James Conner Ranked Top ACC Player

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - The Pitt football program had some of the top talent in the ACC last year in running back James Conner and wide receiver Tyler Boyd. That won't change heading into the 2015 season, according to AthlonSports.com

Athlon rated Conner the number one player overall in the ACC in their pre-spring player rankings. He's coming off a first team All-American season and winning the ACC Player of the Year.

Conner rushed for 1,765 yards and 26 touchdowns last year, breaking three records previously held by Tony Dorsett for rushing touchdowns, total touchdowns (26) and scoring (156 points).

Boyd meanwhile was ranked the ACC's number one receiver in 2015 and the number four overall player. Boyd put up 78 catches for 1,261 yards and eight touchdowns last year on his way to becoming the first player in ACC history to record 1,000 yard receiving seasons in both his freshman and sophomore seasons.

Conner and Boyd will begin their first season under new head coach Pat Narduzzi with spring drills opening on Sunday, March 15. The spring drills will wrap up with the spring game held on April 18 at Highmark Stadium.
