Josh Harrison: Pedro Alvarez Won't Throw Pity Party

BRADENTON (93-7 The Fan) – Josh Harrison sat down with "The Fan Morning Show" at Spring Training in Bradenton this week to talk about getting ready to be the Bucs' starting third baseman on Opening Day.

Harrison talked about how Pedro Alvarez reacted to being replaced at third base last season, and keeping the job going into this season.

"We've got a good group, and we pull for each other whether we're starting or not," Harrison said. "And Pedro is a guy that has helped this team year in and year out. Last year, was a test for him. But, just being able to talk to him and being one of his closest friends on the team, that guy, he wants to be healthy. He's coming to camp this year in shape."

Harrison said that Alvarez did anything but pout.

"Baseball's a challenging game," Harrison said. "And he could just have easily thrown a pity party, just as far as what happened last year. But, he's come in and taken first base full stride, and he's come in knowing that he can help his team. That's a testament to him and how hard he works and how much of a good teammate he is, because our best bet right now his him playing first base."

"The Fan Morning Show" will be broadcasting live from Bradenton all week long.
