Police Search For Suspects Who Stole $30,000 Worth Of iPhones

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are asking for help identifying three people accused of stealing more than $30,000 worth of iPhones from a local Walmart.

Police say it happened at the North Fayette Township Walmart around 3 a.m. Saturday.

The suspects allegedly distracted an employee working in the electronics department and then opened the cabinets holding the iPhones.

"They went into the store, they went to the electronics department and one of the females distracted the male clerk," said North Fayette Police Lt. Michael Hamm.

That's when police say the male broke into the display case -- a bold move.

"The male went behind the cabinet and pried open the cabinet that had been locked and stole approximately 48 cell phones," said Hamm.

Police say the value of the stolen phones is more than $30,000.

Police say they were able to leave the store without being noticed via the self-checkout.

The suspects were seen leaving the store in a gray or silver Chevy Tahoe.

Anyone with information about the thefts or identities of the suspects is asked to call North Fayette Township Police.
