1 Injured In West Homestead Bar Shooting

WEST HOMESTEAD (KDKA) - Police are investigating after one person was injured in a Friday morning shooting in West Homestead.

According to police, the incident happened at Pearl's Café on McClure Street shortly after midnight.

West Homestead police found several shell casings and a bullet hole in the side of the building.

Investigators say two small groups of people got into a verbal altercation inside the establishment.

A short time later, someone outside the building shot through the front window and injured a person at the bar.

Someone inside returned fire, shooting once through the door and a second time through the window.

Police have taken one person into custody.

The police chief says this investigation does not mean the bar is a trouble spot in the community.

"Lately, I guess it would be some of the crowd, maybe the problem, but we don't have a lot of issues at that bar," Homestead Police Chief Jeffrey DeSimone said.

Police have not released the victim's name or condition at this time.

This is not the first shooting at the bar. In 2011, a man was shot in the leg.
