Mike Colligan Would Be Shocked If Pens Win A Game Versus Rangers

PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- Mike Colligan ,of Forbes SportsMoney and The Hockey Writers, joined Tab Douglas and Mike Kearney to talk about the Penguins making the playoffs.

Colligan does not think that their first-round series against the Rangers is a good matchup for the Pens.

"I would be shocked if the Penguins win a game in this series. I just think that the Rangers are so deep and so good, and they swept the season series against the Penguins. The Penguins have gotten worse since then, and the Rangers have gotten better," Colligan said.

Colligan gave a few keys for the Penguins to stay in the series.

"I think the the Penguins are going to need their power play hitting on all cylinders, they're going to need secondary scoring, and they're going to need someone to step up on defense," Colligan said.

The Rangers have a deep defense corps, but Colligan singled out one that could be a factor in the series.

"They've got a defensman in Kevin Klein that most Penguins fans probably aren't too aware of, but I think he's a guy you want to watch in this series. He's a great defenseman coming off of an injury. He's supposed to be ready for Game One, so he might be a little bit sluggish to start the series. ut a guy that's really impressed me and kind of flown under the radar," Colligan said.
