Man Charged In Missing Rostraver Man's Death

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The brother of a missing Rostraver man's girlfriend has been charged with murder.

Tom Guercio, 35, was last seen in March with his on-again off-again girlfriend Jamie Boggs and her brother Billy Ray at a Dick's Sporting Goods in Greensburg.

At the time, police called Guercio's disappearance suspicious.

His body has been found in a remote area outside of Kittanning. Police say they also know how Guercio died.

"It's been determined that Mr. Guercio was murdered at the 399 Finley Road address in Rostraver Township," said Police Chief Greg Resetar.

Investigators say the man behind his death is 49-year-old Billy Boggs. He has been arrested and charged in Guercio's death.

It all started with an argument between the Jamie Lynn and Tom Guercio.

"Boggs stated that his sister had been fighting with Guercio and Billy Boggs got into a physical confrontation," said Resetar.

"Billy Boggs said he struck Guercio in the head with a hammer. He took his sister to Uniontown, Billy Boggs returned and struck Guercio with a hammer and stabbed Tommy in the chest with a knife," added Resetar.

Billy Boggs dumped the body in Armstrong County.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. In this case, one man's trash proved a homicide detective's goldmine. They found the truck that was picked up from in front of Billy Boggs' home.

"I think it was 8 and 10 tons of garbage we emptied out at the Township Road Department," said Resetar.

Detectives went through it piece by piece and in one black bag they found:

"Blood linen, shirt, hat and pillows," said Resetar. "It was determined that the amount of blood present with a fatal injury."

Police say Billy Boggs confessed after learning of the physical evidence.

Billy Boggs is currently in the Allegheny County Jail.
