Couple Welcomes Big Bundle Of Joy In 13-Lb Baby

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Isaac Michael Hall entered the world Thursday morning at West Penn Hospital, weighing in at 13 pounds, 10 ounces. We're talking "big baby."

Michelle and Brad Hall of Ellwood City say friends wondered if she was about to have twins.

"His length is 25 inches long," Michelle says.

The couple's first child might just be the biggest baby ever born at West Penn Hospital.

Dr. Andrew Sword says that in his 30 years of clinical practice, "We have never seen a baby of this size. And when I polled all the pediatricians from this hospital, some of whom date back to the early 1980s, there's never been a baby on record who's this size."

He says Isaac was delivered by C-section.

"We knew the baby was going to be very large. As large as this? No. But at the same time, too large to deliver any other way," he said.

The couple says they don't know of any history of big babies in their family. Though Brad does stand 6 feet, 5 inches, which may have something to do with it.

Oblivious to the swarm of news media that comes with instant stardom, the peaceful, healthy baby sleeps on.

As for some of those baby shower gifts, Michelle says, "We got a frame where you can put the hand print and the foot. And I don't think they're going to fit."
