Furry Tails: HRH Lupo, The Dog Of Cambridge

Once upon a time… there lived a little black Cocker Spaniel.

He lived with his mum - a beautiful duchess, and his dad - the handsome prince, and his little brother and sister - a pint-sized prince and a tiny little princess.

They lived in a beautiful palace and were adored by the masses from far and wide. ...

Ok, so first, let me put this out there. I am completely obsessed with the royals. For that reason, this Furry Tails is completely self-indulgent, and I hope, fun and light as well.

I grew up with school-girl crushes on Prince William and Prince Harry. (Hi Harry… on the off chance you read this, well, call me! I'm totally available!) Okay, so maybe, I still have a bit of a crush on "the spare!"

These days, I'm a big Kate Middleton adorer, too! The hair, the clothes, the class and poise, and the kindness. For me, she's everything a real-life princess, well duchess, should be. I only wish I had the Windsor's bank account and the crown jewels in my grandmother-in-law's basement!

Then, there's the tragedy and the drama and the spectacle – oh, and did I mention the drama. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles and Camilla, and the rest of the family tree, including those wacky and wild Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie!

But there is also the horrific and tragic death of Princess Diana. It's a story that still tugs at my heart and makes me sad today.

But more recent times, especially last weekend, have been much happier for the royals.

With the birth of a new little princess, as with the birth of any baby anywhere, it means hope and love. And, well, at least in this case, the selling out of any clothing item Kate puts Princess Charlotte in from here on out!

It also means, a new little playmate for Will and Kate's furry first born, Lupo.

Oh, so you don't know who Lupo is? Sure you do! He's the cute little Cocker Spaniel that Wills has been seen holding on to in those Cambridge family photos that Kensington Palace releases from time to time.

Lupo may not be in the limelight like Prince George and Princess Charlotte, but he's still an important part of the royal family. For more photos of Lupo, click here!

He has garnered some attention. He's more famous than any of the Queen's corgis, and he has recently become the subject of a children's book, "Lupo - The Adventures of a Royal Dog."

Lupo, which means "wolf" in Italian, reportedly came to the Cambridges as a birthday gift for Kate, and was born to one of Michael and Carole Middleton's dogs.

Since then, he's been spotted at Kate's side often. And every once in a while getting some love from Prince William, as well as his aunt and uncle, Pippa Middleton and Prince Harry!

Last summer, Pippa was spotted in London helping out her sister and brother-in-law when she picked Lupo up from a kennel. The photo was seen many places, Lupo on a rope leash and Pippa toting bags of dog food and a dog bowl.

Then, there's Uncle Harry. The spare to Prince William's heir was photographed at least once with the Cambridge's royal pup.

In 2012, Prince Harry was spotted nuzzling Lupo on the sidelines of a polo match. At the same event, Prince William scooped Lupo up, giving his pup a kiss on the head.

Oh, I swoon!

But perhaps Lupo's most famous photo ops are with his little bro! Kate's father, Michael, famously snapped the Cambridge's first official family photo just after Prince George's birth.

And there was Lupo, tongue lolling with Prince William's arm around him.

Then, there was the photo released last year just before the family's trip to New Zealand and Australia. Prince George adorably staring at his furry brother! This moment was just too cute.

Unfortunately, there is much more known about Lupo. His favorite royal chew toy? His favorite place to lounge at Kensington Palace? His favorite place to go for a walk? It all remains a mystery, closely guarded by the very private Cambridges.

But I will say, Lupo seems like a loyal friend to the royal couple.

And to all of us peasants, Lupo makes William and Kate feel more relatable, too. They love him just like any other pet owner around the world loves their animal – feeding him, taking him for walks, letting him play with children.

Lupo, though, he gets to spend his time in palaces and with people who are addressed with the words "Your Royal Highness" as a prefix to their name.

So, I guess you could say Lupo is living a real-life "furrytail." ...

And they all lived happily ever after!
