Beaver Co. Woman Says Grandson's Arm Was Bruised By His Teacher

ROCHESTER (KDKA) -- A Beaver County woman wants officials at her grandson's school to take action after she says his arm was bruised when a teacher allegedly grabbed him.

The bruise on 4-year-old Jace's right arm has his grandmother, Sonya Humphries, furious. She says Jace told her his teacher at the Rochester Head Start program, grabbed him by the arm.

She says Jace told her he was playing on the swing set at school and didn't want to get off.

"I was beyond mad. I don't put my hand on my grandkids or my kids, so I didn't feel anybody else should have the right to do that," said Humphries.

KDKA reached out to the head of Beaver County Head Start.

Tami Ozegovich would not go on camera, but told us they are following their policies and procedures in-house and will work with any authorities conducting an investigation and follow their lead.

Humphries thinks the teacher should be fired.

"She shouldn't be around other kids for the safety of the kids," said Humphries.

Jace was taken to a local hospital to be checked out. His grandmother says he's fine. The bruise should eventually go away.

Jace hasn't been back to his Head Start class since the incident.

His grandmother says the family thinks it's best if he takes a few days off.
