Man Fatally Stabbed In Braddock

BRADDOCK (KDKA) -- Police are investigating a fatal stabbing in Braddock.

It happened around 7:30 a.m. Saturday at a home on Pine Alley.

Police say they responded to a 911 call saying a man had been stabbed. The man was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

"Police responded to the 500-block of Pine Alley, where they found a black male suffering from at least one stab wound," said Allegheny County Police Lt. Andrew Schurman. "He was transported to a local area hospital, where he succumbed to those wounds and was ultimately pronounced dead."

Allegheny County Homicide is investigating and believes the stabbing was the result of a domestic dispute.

So far, the medical examiner has not identified the victim. But Braddock Mayor John Fetterman says the victim is a longtime resident and member of a large family in Braddock. He says two children were inside the home.

"Anytime somebody gets injured in a domestic situation, domestic violence -- and we don't want to have children involved," said Fetterman. "And there were children in the home, hopefully, I don't think they were there to witness anything."

No motive was given for the stabbing, although it's believed alcohol was involved. Fetterman urges anyone involved in domestic abuse or violence to seek help.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 412-473-1300.
