FBI Probing Castle Shannon Bank Robbery
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The FBI is investigating after a bank in Castle Shannon was robbed Monday morning.
The FBI says the First Commonwealth Bank on Mt. Lebanon Boulevard was robbed around 9:40 a.m.
Even though the suspect wasn't seen with a weapon on him, investigators are calling him armed and dangerous.
"I think people are desperate. So when people are desperate, they do desperate things," customer Ellen Bobick said.
Investigators say the suspect came in through the front door, took an undetermined amount of cash from a bank employee, and then took off.
There was at least one other customer in the bank when the robbery happened.
Customers say they're especially surprised because of another bank robbery that happened a few days ago at Northwest Savings Bank on Library Road in Bethel Park.
"Especially in this area because you have Mt. Lebanon and Castle Shannon that are patrolling this area so much," customer Rodney Firanski said.
The robber is described as a white male between 5-feet-8 and 5-feet-9-inches tall, weighs between 180 to 200 pounds and is in his mid-30's.
He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white button-up shirt with blue pinstripes.
Witnesses say the suspect fled on foot.
Anyone who has any information on this robbery or knows the whereabouts of the suspect is being asked to call the FBI Pittsburgh office.
