Police Investigating After Man Shot & Killed In Homestead

HOMESTEAD (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a person was shot and killed in Homestead Wednesday morning.

According to officials at the scene, the incident happened in the 1400-block of Mifflin Street around 10 a.m.

Homestead Mayor Betty Esper said the victim was walking down the street when someone in a passing car opened fire.

"I'm worn down by all the shootings in the streets. These are all young people shooting each other and I get very sad about that because there's no value of life," Esper said.

The victim's family were consoling each other and left wondering why this happened.

"This is crazy, it is. It's terrible and it's senseless and I don't understand why do people – Why do these black men keep doing this to each other? Just why? We don't need to do this," the victim's cousin, Tonisha Batts, said.

The victim's name has not been released and no arrests have been made.

No other information has been released at this time.
