New Hazelwood Spray Park Offers Relief From Summer Heat

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Residents of Hazelwood will have a new place to cool down this summer.

Saturday was the ribbon cutting ceremony for Burgwin Spray Park.

The spray park was built on the site of the former Burgwin Swimming Pool. It has in-ground water features, water bucks, water wickets, in addition to other features.

Several city leaders were at the event, including Councilman Corey O'Connor and Parks and Recreation Director Jim Griffin.

"Hazelwood is experiencing many positive changes and this recreation facility will be Citiparks' contribution to the community's continued success," said Griffin. "This beautiful facility will host an exciting world of water features and offer an extended operating season from spring to fall."

The spray park will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. until June 8, when Pittsburgh Public Schools are out for summer. After that, it will be open daily throughout the summer from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
