Driver Shot By Passing Car Inside Liberty Tunnels

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are looking for the person who fired shots at a car inside the Liberty Tunnels, hitting the driver and causing a multi-car crash.

It happened around 1:40 a.m. in the Liberty tubes.

Police say an officer at the inbound tunnel and PJ McArdle Roadway heard the gunshots.

Inside the tunnel, he found the driver of a maroon Toyota Camry had been shot several times. He was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital in stable condition.

During the shooting, a car in front of the Camry was rear-ended, as well as an SUV.

Police say someone in a white sedan – possibly a Mercedes – fired the shots at the Camry and fled across the Liberty Bridge.

No word on the suspect.
