McCutchen Named Co-National League Player Of The Week

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - A .542 on-base percentage and leading the National League with a 1.000 slugging percentage for a league will get you some national recognition.

Add to that a .450 batting average and three home runs and you have the recipe for Andrew McCutchen to be named the co-National League Player of the Week.

McCutchen was named the co-player of the week for the period ending May 24, sharing the award with Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun.

It should come as no surprise that McCutchen's hot streak and the Pirates recent four-game winning streak are tied together.

Braun led all major leaguers last week with 11 RBI and tied for the National League lead with three home runs.

The two outfield sluggers beat out Josh Harrison, Chicago's Chris Coghlan, Philadelphia's Ryan Howard and Cole Hamels, Arizona' AJ Pollock, Washington's Drew Storen and St. Louis' Michael Wacha for the weekly award.

Being named the co-player of the week means both McCutchen and Braun will be awarded a watch courtesy of Game Time in recognition of their play.
