CMU Student Arrested For String Of Oakland Fires

***This story has been updated to reflect that all charges against Benjamin Perlin have been dropped***

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police arrested a man after a string of fires in Oakland back in April.

Police obtained surveillance video which shows Carnegie Mellon University student, 20-year-old Benjamin Perlin, setting the fires.

While in police custody, police say Perlin had small burns on his hands and he admitted to being under the influence of prescription drugs and alcohol when he set the fires.

He faces several charges, including arson and criminal mischief.
