2 Ohio Teens Accused In Armed Robbery Still On The Run, Elizabeth Police Call Off Search

ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - Two teenagers missing from Ohio are still on the run today after robbing a store and dragging a police officer as they got away.

After a long search Thursday, police called off the search today. The command center set up Thursday at a local fire department has been shut down.

Police say there's just too much ground to cover and there's a good possibility they've moved out of the area.

Crews from multiple agencies searched all day Thursday for 15-year-old Rose May and 16-year-old Tristen Kindle.

Both are accused in an armed gas station robbery in Elizabeth Township in which an officer responding was dragged by the fleeing pickup truck.

"They were pulling out in a truck. He grabbed the male and was dragged onto Route 48 before he let go," Elizabeth Township Police Chief David Kerestes said.

At the end of the day, it was decided that it was unlikely the State Police helicopter would be able to find the pair through the thick tree canopy and ATVs couldn't find them with the amount of brush on the ground.

The last credible sighting was Thursday around 2 p.m.

"The female was last seen wearing a teal-colored shirt and tight legging pants. The male was in a grey sweatshirt and jeans," Chief Kerestes said.

Police said the teens have been getting around in stolen vehicles.

They ditched a stolen Jefferson County municipal truck near an old coal mine after the attempted robbery. Their clothes and cash were found on nearby.

Police believe they had a bag with a change of clothes and moved into the woods.

With the strong belief the teens have moved out of this area, a widespread alert was put out with a description of the teens as well as pictures. Police involved in this investigation are unclear where they may be headed next.
