Teens Suspected Of Dragging Elizabeth Twp. Officer Arrested In W. Va.

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Two teenagers on the run from Ohio and accused of dragging an Elizabeth Township police officer have been arrested.

Elizabeth Township police posted on Facebook Saturday afternoon that 16-year-old Tristan Kindle and 15-year-old Rose May were arrested in West Virginia.

No other details were released about the arrests, but the post did add, "We would like to thank all assisting agencies and the community for their support."

However, sources tell KDKA the teens took off toward Sisterville, W. Va. when they were being pulled over for a traffic stop in Paden City. Police chased them through Sisterville, where they wrecked into a restaurant on Graham Street.

"I come running out as I come out the door. All I see is police everywhere with guns drawn," owner of BonBon's Cafe Bonnie Cinar said.

Cinar says she had about 10 customers inside.

"I always have people sitting at this table but for some reason thank God there was nobody at that," Cinar said.

After that, sources say they ran into the river, but were eventually arrested.

"The female was armed with a handgun. She had it with her during a foot pursuit and when she jumped in the Ohio River," W.Va. State Police Sgt. CJ Lantz said.

Allegedly they were driving in a GMC Sierra with Pennsylvania plates that was believed to have been stolen. The On Star in the car reportedly called police.

The search for the teens began after an officer was called to the P&W mini-mart on Scenery Drive for a robbery in progress around 2 a.m. Thursday.

When the officer arrived, the suspect took off running around the back of the store. The suspect hopped into a pickup truck and tried to speed off. The officer was able to hang on to the hitch of the truck for a while, before falling off.

Investigators don't know what brought the teens to the area, but did say they were armed, at the very least, with a shotgun.

A pile of clothes and cash were found about three miles from the gas station that was robbed in Elizabeth Township.

In West Virginia both teens have been charged with possession of stolen property, bringing a vehicle across state lines and fleeing from police.

Police say May doesn't have any previous run-ins with the law. However Kindle does out of Ohio where he's from.

They have yet to be charged out of Pennsylvania.
