Police: Fatal Shooting In North Braddock Believed To Be A Drive-By

NORTH BRADDOCK (KDKA) -- Police now think a fatal shooting in North Braddock Tuesday evening was a drive-by.

The gunfire rang out around 6:30 p.m. in the 600-block of Jones Avenue.

"I heard around four gunshots," said Cecelia Rydzak, a neighbor. "Just bang, bang, bang, bang – that quick."

Chief Dean Bazzone told KDKA's Kym Gable that multiple shots were fired, likely from a car heading down Baldridge Street.

"It's been turned over to the County Police who are going to do the investigation," said Chief Bazzone.

The victim collapsed in front of Great Start Day Care and several people ran to his aid.

"I have to open my business back up tomorrow. I need my parents to be confident that they're bringing their children to a place where it's a safe environment," said Nicole Glace, of Great Start Day Care. "I don't know, I don't know."

The victim was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital where Allegheny County Police and the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office say he died from his injuries.

Allegheny County Police identify the victim as Desmond Nowlin, 21, of Braddock.

Meanwhile, the investigation continues.
