Children's Hospital's "Mobile Giving Booth" Coming To Arts Fest This Weekend

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- You can put your own creativity on display at the Three Rivers Arts Festival this weekend.

The "Mobile Giving Booth" will be set up by Children's Hospital, to videotape personal messages of childhood.

Local celebrities and hospital visitors have already shared childhood memories, and personal gratitude to Children's. Their recorded videos appear on the hospital's website.

"We kicked off the Giving Booth on June 4 with the kickoff celebration of our 125th anniversary," says Brian Harman, of the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation.

He says the booth will make 20 stops this year, from Kennywood to Butler.

"Giving an opportunity for the community to share a story about Children's Hospital, or share a story about their childhood," he said. "It's our chance to take this out into the community, and hear from the community. That's who supports us."

Visitors can tell their stories, and make charitable contributions. The Giving Booth will be set up at the Arts Festival Saturday and Sunday, from noon to 8 p.m.

Former patient Carson Creehan stopped in the booth to share memories of a favorite doctor.

"I wasn't really sure exactly what to expect when I first walked in," she recalls. "But it was super easy and a lot of fun. And it really just gave me time to reflect about my time here at Children's."
